BRILLIANT ANSWER
Harry asked Dr. Bill Pettit to explain the differences to the audience between the worldly approaches of the world’ which primarily don’t work and 3P, and when asked Harry expressed, “Like AA talks about alcohol as a disease.”
"The way I see the physiology of our bodies is the following—there is a stress response that we activate in our body if we are threatened or someone close to us is threatened. It is an amazing system that brings a person to extraordinary strength and presence, and often survival. When our ancestors faced a dangerous animal like a saber-toothed tiger, they needed to be fast and strong. That system is meant to be activated 30 minutes every 24 hours.
We activate this same system with worry, guilt, resentment, upset, over analyzing, fear. We do this with the innocent misuse of the power of Thought. And we forget in that stillness we will activate that divine wisdom that is at the core of our being. We are created to live in ease where love and understanding, wisdom and integrity, where passion and compassion is available to us. We live in EASE but if we experience more than 30 minutes of stressful thinking in a day, we will move from ease to dis-ease.
The research in stress shows that if we activate the system for over 3 hours a day for a period of weeks, we move from physical or mental dis-ease to actual physical and mental disease. Our body gets overwhelmed and our psyche gets overwhelmed by the burden of stressful thinking, and its burden to the body and mind.
In reference to what Harry mentioned, I will now try to make the following differentiation. If one sees that the problem is a lack of understanding of our spiritual nature and our connection to the psychological and physical nature, it changes everything. It points to that we don’t have a disease, an entity but a lack of understanding. When I went to AA programs, what I felt was so powerful was the feeling of Love. There was a powerful experience of caring for each other. I totally agree with Harry that what the Principles are pointing to is the connection of God and us, as the human being, brings the healing to a new level."
